First off, it's a fallacy to say EVERY girl or boy masturbates. According to Harvard statistics, about 85% of males will have tried masturbation by age 18 and 65% of females. Some girls don't like to discuss it because it's personal to them (IF they masturbate), but the girl you were talking to was just a "prude" for lack of better terms. If she asked you about your masturbation habits, then she shouldn't have been surprised that you returned the question. Not all girls masturbate and there are girls who will discuss masturbation openly, and those who won't. It depends all on the girl and her personality. There is no need to get overly worked up about one girl and her reaction to your question. Just let her go and let her be close-minded.
